Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday dedicated the newly constructed Integrated Office Building of the Deputy Commissioner in Jorhat to the people.
Built at Chinamara on over 53 bighas of land, the modern administrative complex has been constructed at a cost of ₹49.62 crore. The project was inaugurated nearly four years after its foundation stone was laid on December 15, 2022.
The new facility marks a significant shift from the historic “Ranga Court”, the iconic district administrative headquarters built during the British era in 1914. With the inauguration of the new building, the district administration is expected to deliver public services in a more efficient, citizen-friendly, and organized manner.
The integrated office complex includes a 151-seat auditorium, a 60-seat conference hall, a 50-kilowatt solar power system, adequate parking facilities, and residential accommodation for employees. The government stated that the infrastructure would help improve administrative efficiency and make public services more accessible to residents.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the newly constructed building of Luitporia Mising Higher Secondary School and a new girls’ hostel at Sivasagar University.
Established in 1983, Luitporia Mising Higher Secondary School has received a modern academic building that is expected to provide a better learning environment for students. The new hostel at Sivasagar University is also aimed at improving residential and educational facilities for female students.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister dedicated the Chinamara Railway Flyover to the people of Jorhat, adding another key infrastructure project to the district’s growing development network.
