India vs New Zealand: 29-Year-Old Pace Bowler Added to ODI Squad as Prasidh Krishna’s Replacement

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has been fast-tracked into India’s squad for the opening three ODIs against New Zealand, shifting his initial schedule which only had him slated for the fourth and fifth matches, after an injury to Prasidh Krishna cleared the way for his early inclusion. Nabi, who recently played a vital part in Jammu and Kashmir’s historic Ranji Trophy victory and made his senior ODI debut for India against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, 2026, was officially confirmed by the BCCI through a Friday statement where the board noted that the Men’s Selection Committee added the right-arm speedster to the team from the very start of the series. The reshuffle was necessitated because Prasidh Krishna suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, rendering him unable to feature in the white-ball series despite initial fitness-dependent selection, and the pacer will instead travel to New Zealand next week to feature in the third unofficial Test for India A against New Zealand A in Lincoln to get vital game time ahead of the senior team’s two-match Test series.
