NHPC signed MoA with Arunachal govt for 3097 MW Etalin Hydroelectric Project in Dibang Valley

In a significant development for India’s hydropower sector, NHPC signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on for the development of the 3097 MW Etalin Hydroelectric Project in Dibang Valley District.
The MoA was signed in the presence of Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh; Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister; Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC and senior officials of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NHPC. The agreement was formally signed by Deepak Rattan Sagar, Group General Manager, NHPC and Hage Lailang, Joint Secretary (Hydro Power), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the development of one of India’s most ambitious hydropower projects.
On this occasion, Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, said, “The Etalin Hydroelectric Project reflects the shared vision and commitment of NHPC and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to harness the State’s immense hydropower potential in a sustainable, environmentally responsible and community-centric manner. The project is expected to bring long-term socio-economic benefits to the region while creating significant livelihood and development opportunities for local communities.”
“Upon commissioning, the 3097 MW Etalin Hydroelectric Project will be the largest hydroelectric project in India and will make a substantial contribution towards the nation’s clean energy transition, energy security and sustainable development goals. The project also underscores NHPC’s continued commitment to supporting the Government of India’s vision of sustainable and inclusive growth through the development of clean energy infrastructure,” he added.
