India continued their dominant run in men’s hockey at the Asian Games 2026 by defeating South Korea 8-2 in their Pool A clash at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday, which marked India’s third successive victory in the competition and kept them firmly at the top of Pool A following their earlier strong performances where they thrashed Indonesia 13-1 and recorded a 16-1 win over Sri Lanka, as India wasted little time taking control with an early opening goal in the fourth minute followed by Dilpreet Singh doubling the advantage and captain Harmanpreet Singh converting a penalty corner to make it 3-0 before Abhishek Nain added another goal in the 14th minute to end the opening quarter with a commanding 4-0 lead, and although South Korea tried to slow India’s attacking momentum in the second quarter, India maintained control of possession and tempo while Dilpreet Singh scored his team’s fifth goal from an opportunity created by Mandeep Singh, leaving South Korea trailing 0-5 at half-time, after which India continued their attack in the third quarter with Dilpreet scoring early to complete his hat-trick and make it 6-0, and despite missed penalty corners and chances from both sides, Abhishek Nain added India’s seventh goal to further trouble the Korean defence, though South Korea eventually got on the scoresheet late in the third quarter through Kim Jaeho to make it 1-7, and while South Korea pushed forward in the final quarter earning penalty corners, India goalkeeper Mohit Shashikumar stood firm between the posts before South Korea found their second goal through Park to reduce the deficit to 2-7, but India remained in control and converted a final penalty corner with just 30 seconds remaining to complete an emphatic 8-2 victory, keeping them unbeaten and atop Pool A ahead of their remaining fixtures against Japan and Bangladesh at the Asian Games 2026.
