Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday reaffirmed the Arunachal Pradesh Government’s commitment to strengthening the handloom and handicrafts sector, stating that every possible effort is being made to uplift the lives and livelihoods of the state’s weavers and artisans.
The Chief Minister was joined by Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Nyato Dukam as the Guest of Honour and Advisor to the Minister, Dr. Mohesh Chai, as the special guest.
Speaking at the Handloom Day celebration at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre, Itanagar, Khandu said the traditional weaving heritage of Arunachal Pradesh is a symbol of the state’s rich cultural identity and deserves continued support.
The Chief Minister highlighted that both the State Government and the Central Government are working in close coordination to promote the handloom sector.
He acknowledged the various initiatives launched by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve market access, skill development, financial assistance, and welfare schemes for weavers across the country.
During the programme, the department launched its official website and the Artisan Data Bank, introduced “Atii” Arunachal Honey, distributed awards, and handed over SAMARTH certificates and Yarn Pass Books to beneficiaries, reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s traditional craftsmanship.
